Cheltenham Indoor Cricket League Presentation Evening

Bayshill Indoor Cricket Awards

Colonel Mustard sadly is currently unavailable, having travelled to Venice for extensive Root Canal and a little bridge work. (heavy Sighs all round) Thus, Ivor Hugh J Thurston is pleased to enlighten you, the reader with the very latest Bays news, hot off the press.

On the 10th of March at 7.30pm, 2022, Cheltenham Cricket Club clubhouse hosted the prestigious Cheltenham Indoor Cricket League awards. In previous years the over-illuminated hall has been full to bursting, but this year for some reason there were only some 20/25 attendees. The Bays’ team was of course well represented as ever, (er hum) by The Chairman and club founder – Peter Van Dyke Esq, the website Supremo – Martin Van Dyke Esq and their long standing-up wicket keeper.

Jim Hyland ably presided over the awards ceremony, handing out trophies to winners of best batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping in the four divisions.

Cheltenham Civil Service A were the league’s overall winners, leading the first division with 11 wins out of 12, with Cheltenham Cricket Club as Runners-Up.

In Division Three, Bayshill were Runners-Up, receiving 2 individual awards. Fran Stirrup picked up the Fielding Award with 12 dismissals – 6 catches and 6 run outs. Steve Liley won the award for most keeping dismissals (+ 2018 & 2020) with 5 – 2 catches and 3 stumpings.

Once the awards had been presented and a respectful amount of time had passed, the Bays representatives retreated to The Lansdown Inn for a quick brace of liveners to end all the excitement.

A spokesman standing outside Bayshill House refused to confirm that those winning awards were looking for professional terms with the club and that if they were, then it was a ‘rum do.’
