Bayshill struggled to defend 153 on a slow and unresponsive pitch. Even so only 3 balls were to spare at the end.
Pierce and Horner opened and made 29 for the first wicket. Dom Hill replaced Pierce who made 21 off 23. The second wicket pairing put on 65 before Horner was bowled for 32 off 63. Dom fell next for 39 off 54 – hitting 6 fours. Alex Van Dyke (17)and Steve Liley (12*)put on 31 for the 6th wicket partnership.
Cowley in response started slowly with number 6 Barney changing the course of the game, which seemed to be drifting away from Cowley. Barney’s 49 not out included some impressive sixes and controlled running. Colin Harding took 2 /25 off 8 overs and Pierce 2 /14 off four.
The Green Dragon helped dissipate the disappointment whilst the weather took an understanding lachrymal turn for the worse.
