Captain Nobby Pierce won the toss and elected to take the rather beautiful field of Colwall, on another stunning autumnal Sunday, for a noon start.
The bowling was opened by the father and son pair of Colin and Michael Harding. Colin celebrating his 50th birthday ? in the week, took 1 for 15 off 4, whilst Michael, not wishing to upstage his aged P, took 1 for 38 off the full 8.
Colwall struggled to get going, amassing just 36 off the first 10 overs and finding themselves 3 down.
Only S Oliver passed 20, being stranded on 36 not out as the team capitulated for 112 after 35 or so overs. Saunders took 3 for 16 off 8 overs, whilst Bachelor ended Colwall’s resistance with 3 for 22 off 7.2 overs. Pierce, Steve Liley and Phil Steers all took catches.
In reply, Bayshill cruised to the target in the 23rd over of the allocated 40. Semi professional pipe smoker and part-time batsman Chris Horner moved serenely to 63* (10 x 4s) off 57 accompanied by Aaron Bachelor over the winning line with a racy 23 off 60 (4 x 4s).
Bayshill enjoyed the venue of a billiard table pitch, plus arboreal splendour and hospitality of a team that is to be congratulated on their Village Cup triumph at Lords earlier in the week.
One game left in the Bayshill season, with just Peopleton left. Hopefully a chance for some more batting!
