Bayshill once again won the toss and chose to bat in this early start 40/40 match, against Bushley, on a fine autumnal Sunday, in a delightful setting.
Pierce and Horner put on 51 in 12 overs before the former was out LBW for 10 off 40. Horner then on 38, moved the score with Parker to 68, before the number 3 batsman was caught for just the one run.
Pritchard joined Horner, to produce the highest Bayshill partnership of the season; 146 (3rd highest 3rd wicket for the club) Pritchard scored at nigh on a run a ball – 58 off 59 – (6x4s & 2x6s) before Horner also departed on 123 (his third score of this figure for the club – 20th equal top score) off 90 (16×4 & 5x6s).
With very few overs left and no time to play himself in, Alex Van Dyke scored a creditable 17* off just 7 (2x4s & 1×6). Bayshill reached 236/5.
In reply, Bushley amassed 208 all out with 4 balls left. Michael Harding was again the pick of the bowlers taking 4/42 – with 2 catches each by Pierce and Steve Liley. Pierce took 3/29 and Tom Liley 2/20 – one bowled and a third catch of the game for Captain Pierce. Beckwill made a creditable 40 (4x4s & 1×6), young F Roberts 31 (4x4s) and E Hulls 34 (7x4s).
A closer game possibly than it felt, with Bushley having a real go at the set target, having confidence in all their batsmen.
